Automotive BIW Fixture Design

This course is designed for fresh Diploma / B.E. Mechanical Engineers and CAD Working Professionals who wish to start their career in Automotive / BIW (Body in White) Fixture Design using CATIA Software. Students will be trained on CATIA Software on the modules like Sketcher, Part Modeling, Assembly, Drafting / Detailing, Surfacing and Sheetmetal. As it’s a Sandwich Course, after finishing CATIA Training, Student undergoes 45 days extensive industrial training on BIW Fixture Design on industrial live projects and hands on experience in manufacturing the Fixtures. Students are expected to work on 2D detailing and 3D design of Fixtures on industrial projects. They will also get exposure of the entire manufacturing / machine setup in the industry. At the end of the course, we will be conducting a technical as well as Project oriented Tool Test and each participant shall get Dassault Systemes Authorised Certificate of Attendance for CATIA training and Certificate of Completion for the BIW Fixture Design Career Program Course.

Terminology of BIW parts used in automotive. And BIW welding fixture design
Design inputs from customer and outputs required from customer
Introduction of types of fixtures and car manufacturing line
Rest unit design, guidelines and calculations , multiple support unit
Clamp unit design, cylinder selection, clamp validation
Pin unit design, round, diamond, retractable design considerations
Dump unit design, cylinder selections and process
Base and frame unit design. Fixed and rotary process
Design of sensor brackets and rough locators for pokayoke
Gripper design process introduction
Standard callouts in welding fixtures
Making of manufacturing drawing for final release
Manufacturing methods for fixture design
